Approximately 8,000 years ago, the Innus settled in Northern Canada, around the last ice-age. The Innu tribe have also been known as the Naskapi and Montagnais in the past, though with the current similar name difference to the Inuits, they are not the same. Around the year 1500, the Europeans arrived, engaging the original tribe into fur trading. When the fur trading business collapsed in the 1950’s, the Government was under economic pressure, and forced the Innus into communities, and then used their territory for mining, building of roads and power schemes.

The video above is a trailer for a movie called Maina. The main character is the daughter of an innu, and she is captured by the enemy. This is a rather new film, but it does give a fascinating insight of what the innus originally looked like, as well as how their days worked, how they originally behaved and what they did for a living.
